Nice secluded campground, but it is a pain to get to. Like 30 minutes of narrow gravel road with awful visibility. If you want to get away from it all and do some fishing, this is a great place.
Beautiful campgrounds. Winding curvy road up to the site. Bathrooms were always dirty but the surrounding and our pop ups toilet made up for it. The camp host was a real jerk. Crawled all over my stuff for taking some firewood from a recently vacant camp site which I had the owners permission. He really needs a good old fashioned attitude adjustment. other then him and his wife great trip.
Campground closes Oct 31, but there are year-round huge dispersed campsites for free before you get to the campground. Fire-rings, otherwise, bring your own water, table etc. And practice bear safety - saw a juvenile male bear (and his scat) twice near my site. No biggie, he was running from me, just keep food up when unattended & at night.
It is remote camping, you need to bring everything. There's a chemical toilet.
Easy to get to if you go up the highway and turn left onto dirt road and go 5 miles down to the upper Campground. If you make it to that big pull off on right for the Appalachian Trail you went too far, by about 200 feet
Great remote spot. Only stayed one night as I was looking for bigger water to fish. Picked this one during online site. Drove in from the south so also looked at Low Gap. It's about the same. If you go here drive in from north side, south way is a long haul on dirt road. Fun if you like that sort of thing.
