Just a little FYI they have a minimum for credit card purchases of $5 (which stinks because all I wanted was a Snickers in my middle of my hike but c'est la vie)
This place is the coolest! We stop every time we are in the area. Great staff and people around the store. Awesome views around the back. So many shirts and lovely gift shop things. Great book selection and stickers. Anything you need for a hike is available. Must stop by and check it out!

I love this store I stopped in just about every time I pass by. Everyone you meet and that store it's got a cool story all the employees are very helpful. They have a great selection no matter what you're looking for with quality items!
Been here several times throughout my life love the old building fun place to stop when hiking the A.T.
We weren't hiking the Appalachian Trail...but we saw it. We were on a weekend drive through the mountains and stopped here to see what we could. There isn't a lot to see, but we grabbed (and paid for...we didn't shoplift 'em) a couple of drinks and walked around a bit. Some picturesque vistas, some nice folks, and about a pleasant 30 minutes of goofing off.
Stroll out back for a bit for better views and a ginormous historical monument. Lots of history out in the middle of nowhere, for real.
With the ubiquity of dollar stores in "civilized" areas, I can say that one next door to this place would make a fortune. I don't know how many people live in the area (or what they do to make a living), but a store with a wide selection of...stuff...would be a shoe-in for people hiking the AT.
