I would definitely recommend going to Vogel State Park.
I visited this location for a fellowship picnic it was AMAZING! You see many different cultures and everyone is friendly. There are a ton of hiking trails I'm definitely going back. Parking was $5, cabins, museum and boat paddling and a few more options. Only down fall is the twist and turns getting to the park. I was very nauseous. Other than that the park is beautiful.
This state park has everything. I love the pond and hiking trails. The campground is rustic and popular yet has good services in the visitor center. Bring your own food or picnic. Fires are allowed.
The cabins are nice! Very clean and well kept
We went to Vogel State Park on our vacation this year, we were there a week ago and enjoyed our visit. There is unknown waterfall located on the property, near there property pond. That was worth the short easy distance walk. Very Beautiful waterfall, you do have to walk a little bit down hill to see the full waterfall but have a good view of the top of the falls, from a small brige located around the pond on the the property. Just before the entrance to Vogel State Park on the right hand side of the highway, if you look good you can see the waterfall from the roadside and there is a roadside pullover overlook. I posted a couple of photos of the waterfall on this review. There are also picnic areas at the park, plus camping and cabins and fishing and walking trails at this park.
Although chosen this year to give our grandson a chance to hike and view a beautiful area falls, it allowed us to show him a camping area that his dad spent time at as a youngster. It was nice to see that really great camping attractions have survived the test of time. Here he was able to turn a penny into a hiking stick medallion, just as his dad once did. The future can exist without discarding the past - both have value! We are State Park supporters. You can be, also.
